August 2022: THRUST

The kind of book you can read 20 times and always learn something new. A wild cast of characters connected through time travel, this book is fiercely feminist and deliciously mind-boggling.

September: TOMORROW AND TOMORROW AND TOMORROW

Just a little book that no one has heard of (jokes: it won the ‘best book of the year’ pretty much everywhere). An ode to love, loss, and redemption set in the world of gaming. This book is a delight.

October: HOUSE OF HUNGER

Need a gothic horror centered around classism, blood as currency, and dangerous liaisons? Look no further.

November: SCYTHE + MY FIRST POPSICLE

Scythe: our only YA pick of the year and the start of a series that Inky club members can’t get enough of. Imagine a world without natural death, hence the need for gleanings to regulate the population. Whoa.

Our non-fiction pick: @zosiamamet curated a delightful book of essays around the power of food, including recipes and a vast array of names you’ll certainly know.

December: KINDRED

Decided to wrap the year with Octavia Butler’s classic. She braided the slave narrative with time travel and fantasy, resulting in a completely unique and gut-wrenching look at the antebellum south.
